Memorial Day

Memorial Day
Monday May 25

1.      Memorial Day is a day on which those who died in active military service are remembered, traditionally observed on May 30 but now officially observed on the last Monday in May.
2.      The purpose of Memorial Day is to honor those who serve or have served for our country, and for the good they’ve done. We are very proud of them and love them and respect them very much.
3.      Memorial Day is on the last Monday of May.
4.      Some ways to show honor and respect on this day is simply putting up your American flag.

This year I will celebrate Memorial Day with my family and cousins. My cousin is participating in the U.S. army, so we will all be celebrating with her at home and thanking her for what she’s done for us and our country.

“If I’ve got correct goals, and if I keep pursuing them the best way I know how, everything else falls into line. If I do the right thing right, I’m going to succeed.”
Dan Dierdorf

Reflection: What he is saying in his quote is that if you’ve got a goal, do everything you can to make it happen. When you set your goals, set them with the intension of doing everything possible to achieve them in the right way. When you want to do something, do it right. Always choose the right.

“Nothing is ever gained in doing what’s wrong.”
Wilford Woodruff

Reflection: I agree with him because I believe that he is right. When you do something that is bad and or wrong, nothing good will come out of it. If you help someone do something that is bad, then you are just as much involved and going to be punished as they are. It doesn’t matter if you weren’t the one who thought of that bad idea, but if you participate in it then nothing good will come your way.

LAUSD: Families

LAUSD: Families

1. Supports school efforts to implement effective family engagement activities that value partnerships with parents for the benefit of children’s learning and achievement.
2. These services will benefit me by being able to have more time to study. Also by helping me learn better and having my parents there with me in case I need help. My parents will be able to participate in some of the school activities and help around the school, they will also be learning.
3. We will use all of these services because it is of great value. We will be getting something out of it and learning ways to help one another.

“The reward for doing right is mostly and internal phenomenon: self-respect, dignity (self-worth), integrity, and self-esteem.”
Dr. Laura Schlessinger

Reflection: I think that what she is saying is true. Having self- respect and dignity in you is what will always result from doing what is right. Not only will you have self- respect, others will respect you as well.

“Dare you to stand alone.”
Thomas S. Monson

Reflection: I think he means that it is best to stand alone when something is wrong. If your friends are going out and decide to do something bad, then it is best to stand alone no matter what the others say about you, even if they make fun of you.
